The Hospital: Day Seven

Sunday, July 4

The same routines. There is fewer medical personnel around, and the hospital seems quieter. On this day, the older woman named Felicity began to prepare to go home. The nurses got a bag of new clothes for her to change into, and she was thrilled. Everyone wished her well. Rosita’s birthday is Monday, and the nurses tell her she will leave tomorrow. I will miss her because she was very nice to give me her phone number and use her phone. She had been here in the hospital for over 24 days.

On TV, we watched many religious programs. I reviewed my knots and counted the days backward from when I was in the ER.

I wish to go home. I feel great; I can breathe much better without coughing. The nurses gave us all a yellow plastic lung exerciser– much like in this photo. All the patients practice increasing their lung capacity during the day.

There is still the same nightly sequence with the monitors and strange talk from nurses and some patients. I remembered that Leo never said anything weird, and Rosita did not, either. Except I stopped trusting Rosita after I heard her talking with Pedro. She had also begun talking badly about Maria after Maria called her to contact me. So, I limited using her phone. Only Aglia and Pedro have said strange things about me, my house, chickens, and money.

I kept up the same schedule at night, staying up most of the night and sleeping in the daytime.

They have a lot of water and food and they are good. I appreciate all your help. My mother is fine with the treatment, I spoke to her last night. We will continue to pray for her speedy recovery. Thanks again for everything and have a great day.
